This cartridge was developed for use initially in the Trapdoor Springfield but was widely used until it was supplanted by the more popular 45-70. These cases are made by Bertram but have a different brand headstamp, however they still show 50-70 and are identical in terms of specifications to the Bertram headstamped brass.
