The 40-65 Winchester or 40-2.1″ case is different than the 40-65 Sharps (40 – 2.5″) and the two are not interchangable since the rim and base diameters are not the same. The 40-65 Winchester was initially chambered in the Winchester 1886 lever action rifle as well as a number of single shot rifles of the period.
